Day 281: Artist at work
"When you photograph people in color you photograph their clothes. But when you photograph people in B&W,you photograph their souls!" ~Ted Grant
I used this quote a few days ago on Twitter, I thought of it again when I saw this photo and it was the only choice for my daily photo. H2 has an artist's soul, temperamental, playful, loving & always willing to try something different. Lets not talk about the temper.

Day 280: Looking up
Today's dailyshoot was a light source. Well, despite a beautiful sunny day - nothing turned out the way I wanted. However, indirectly this totally works - it does power a light source. Right.

Day 279: Downward...
I really have no idea why, but I'm a little obsessed with staircases. Until this one, I've never quite gotten one from this angle I even like. I feel a series coming on.

Day 278: Not so cuddly
Beautiful granite, but nothing you want to cuddle up to, trust me. I have a bump where I hit myself on the brass bow around its neck.

Day 277: Sunflower at Sunset
This was not the photo I envisioned while taking pictures. I also made the biggest discover that you can't shoot in Monochrome in RAW. I never tried shooting in Monochrome, so I figured I would try - I guess I must be thankful that this is what I got instead. I guess that sometimes the best stuff comes from our mistakes. This would have sucked in B&W.

Day 276: Web
I love to take spiderwebs, but they are not the easiest things to capture. Well, at least for me. This web was only visible when I got the background in the shade and even then it didn't really pop. Until I converted to B&W Then it took on an erie dismal tone that I loved. It also feels abandoned without its spider. Maybe he went on vacation....it is summer after all.

Day 275: Ducklings
I loved the color and reflections in the water way more than the duck and ducklings. The babies are so cute though and the mother was extremely protective of her babies.

Day 273: BOND
I want to say Bond, James Bond, but I don't want to be flippant about the dead. That would not bring me good Karma I think. I loved this shot black and white. I took several that I thought would work for today's photos. This was not one of them, but sometimes we make our photos in post production.
The one below made me laugh so hard though. I don't think E meant to have that face in the photo.

Day 271: Praying Mantis
The problems with taking pictures of insects is that they don't take direction. I have to be honest - I didn't work that hard at taking a picture today. I was doing some laundry and one item didn't get all the way dry so I decided to use the "solar dryer" outside to finish it up and within 5 minutes this sucker had decided it was his shirt & not mine. Well, I showed him....his mug shot is now plastered on the internet.

Day 270: Sunset at the Lake
This is what I was attempting to do last night when the clouds got the better of me. Tonight I had the camera in my hand at the right place and the right time.

Day 266: Longhorn beetle
I know that today's theme was Fog, but I didn't experience any fog, except when my lens fogged up due to the humidity while trying to take this picture. UGH! And a quick shout out to my dad, who noticed the bug.

Day 262: Taking a break
There could be no other reason for a bee to be sitting on an evergreen with absolutely no flowering anything except to take a break or escape from a very annoying co-worker (do I know that one) but either way its a break.

Day 261: From the side
I was completely mesmerized by the way the petals of this zinnia looked from the side. Although the most beautiful pink color it was so much more striking with a beautiful Green Portrait filter on LR.

Day 260: Bumble Bee
They boys and I went to the Dallas Arboretum today. I was amazed at the amount of pollen this bee was carrying around and even more amazed that it allowed me to get so close.
Even more amazing: My 7 year photos. Check them out.

Day 259: Light Fixture
I guess this qualifies for heat/energy in today's Theme Thursday. I found this light fixture in the Texas heat and I loved it. There's a matching one down the way too, but the single fixture did it for me.

Day 257: Looking Up
What a clear reflection and how I managed to get two light flares surprises even me. Lucky shot I guess.

Day 256: Cowboys' Stadium
Went lots of places today. I think my husband's favorite was Cowboys' Stadium. He especially wanted to see the big doors by the end-zones. Yes, those big things slide open. How cool is that?
I liked it better in B&W, but my husband preferred color. What do you think?
Side view: I loved the way it reflected everything.

Day 255: Full Spread.
I had a great day today. Lots of stuff accomplished. The kids went to the movies with their aunt and I went for a walk while everyone was occupied. He thought he was stalking me though the cattails, but it was actually me that was stalking. Unfortunately, the light was not in my favor and I didn't get the definition I would have liked, but I don't usually get such a clear shot.
Happy 4th!

Day 254: Foot Bridge
Today was challenging. Besides having to work it rained all day long. And I do mean all day long I took this in a sprinkle - not good light, but with the pavement wet and switching to B&W it looks much better than color.

Day 253: In the middle of the creek
Yes, I literally was in the middle of this creek. While I would love for all of you to think I suffered for my craft laying down to get this shot, I used my 12 inch gorilla pod and got an awesome perspective. I'm not sure if this is my favorite of the day, as I tried the daily shoot today. I think this fits the bill.

Day 252: Veins
I was walking down the street and I noticed some of the veins on the leaves of this oak were so pronounced I had to go grab my camera. I hope you didn't expect blood....
