Year 2 - Day 33

UNDER ICE

I've shown my sea glass from New Zealand before, it just usually isn't buried in a bunch of sleet & ice.

Day 334: Web

This is totally experimentation.  This am shot showed great web, but I really couldn't make it pop, so instead of giving it a dark color overlay to even out the back, I put a white one on to make the web pop and then posterized it.  Experimentation sometimes gives you interesting results.

Day 333: Sea Glass

A couple of years ago my mother gave me the trip of a lifetime.  New Zealand.  My sister and I spent hours on the beach 2 minutes walk down the hill from my Aunt's home picking up sea glass.  The light hit the glass perfectly this morning and I couldn't resist the shot.

Day 328: Garlic Chives

Day 318: Testing, 1, 2

My mother brought me a box from her closet for my birthday.  I'm sure you are all jumping for joy - I mean who doesn't want a box of stuff that has been sitting in the closet at the folks house for 25 years.  Let me tell you what was in that box:

• Nikon 50mm 1.8f lens with a sky 1a filter on it.
• Tamron Adaptall 2 80/210mm F3.8-4 Tele Macro lens with a leather case
• Soligor Close-up lens kit +1, +2 & +3 with a pretty leather case
• 80A Blue Filter which Converts daylight film for use with a 3200K lamps (since I'm not using film this I think will be a cooling filter)
• There is some flashes including a slave flash, but I haven't gotten there yet.

All of this was for film camera, but it makes it all the more fun to stick it on a DSLR.  This was what I ended up with after 5 minutes with the 50mm & the +2 filter.  

More testing to come, don't judge me on my first attempts.

Day 271: Praying Mantis

The problems with taking pictures of insects is that they don't take direction.  I have to be honest - I didn't work that hard at taking a picture today.  I was doing some laundry and one item didn't get all the way dry so I decided to use the "solar dryer" outside to finish it up and within 5 minutes this sucker had decided it was his shirt & not mine.  Well, I showed him....his mug shot is now plastered on the internet.

Day 249: Not so ideal

Well, it has been raining off and on here so that whole picture thing is not as easy to do when raining.  Not that I'm going to complain, but I was hoping for something off the grill for dinner

Day 201: Bubbles

It's the little things in life that make us happy.  I was blowing bubbles in the backyard with my youngest and the light bulb went off in my head.  It was a toss up whether to chose the picture for H2's face or the bubbles.  This time, the bubbles won.

OK, not the best picture I've every taken, but I have a squash on my plant.  I'm so excited.

Nice full flower on my chives plant.  Couldn't resist the light lavender color.

Day 150: Spring

This is what I woke up to this morning, yes this is the 3rd day of Spring I think.  Hmm, anyone want to party on the patio?

Day 149: Spring huh?

I took this not 10 minutes ago.  Yes, I live in Texas and its March 20th.  I can't explain this.  I planted my garden yesterday in 70 degree weather.

Day134: Dew

I woke up to see dots on my chairs outside, instead of going out in the cold, I got the BIG lens out again.  I found it was dew on my chairs.  What a surprise, but not as big a surprise as finding out I was today's Feature Friday. I knew it was coming, but I didn't realize it was today and it made my today.  I want to say thank you to Tasra for a great write up and for getting us all together.  I know that I have grown by leaps and bounds not only by taking pictures everyday, but by learning from each other.  The #tasra365 group on twitter has influenced me, inspired me and given me the right push at the right time.  I'm so excited to be a part of it. I'd also like to thank Scott Bourne, for if he didn't retweet Tasra's original tweet, I never would have known about it.

I'm so loving this 365 day project that I can't really express myself in words.

Day 130: Wet

 

  

It has been a wet and dreary day, and decided to use the 1000mm lens for something other than the moon.  I didn't even have to get wet, because I only opened the back door.  I didn't even plan it.

Day 45: Frosted Glass

It was cold last night. When my children forced me out of bed to make their breakfast this morning I noticed everything was frosted over. This is the top of a glass table that probably belongs in an old time ice cream parlor. It makes me cold just looking at it.

Manual: I skipped it tonight - I cleaned the entire house and can't find it - Oops!
