Day 342: Viking

Today we were shooting some still lifes in Digital Imaging.  Well, things got infinitely more interesting when we found out the pumpkin was actually a Viking

Day 340: Orange for fall

You thought you were going to get a pumpkin didn't you?  I spent an hour or so at the Dallas Arboretum and was delighted to have this little guy cooperate with me for a photo.  Every walk way was lined with pumpkins, but this was the prettiest orange I saw.  Also, no post processing except for a slight crop.

Day 339: Still beautiful

It may be fall, but there are still some beautiful flowers to enjoy.

Day 338: Sleepy Hollow

I often walk this road to get to my lake path.  I always make sure I don't hit this after sunset, because I always imagine the Headless Horseman coming down the road.

Day 337: School

I feel like I spend all  my time here - maybe I should have called it my 2nd home.

Day 336: Another 2-FER

BONUS!!!

I did two photos tonight - strictly because I couldn't decide.  I like the composition of the top photo, but not the lighting of the grass in the foreground.  I loved the idea of the bottom photo, but even though it was an amazing color.  It didn't "do it" for me.  I changed my mind when I switched to B&W.  Share your thoughts.  I always love to hear them.

Day 335: Fire in the Sky

I'm saying this is the last sunset of Summer as technically it's not fall till 11 something this evening.  Argue with me if you will.  I didn't find peace here tonight, too much going on in my life.

Day 334: Web

This is totally experimentation.  This am shot showed great web, but I really couldn't make it pop, so instead of giving it a dark color overlay to even out the back, I put a white one on to make the web pop and then posterized it.  Experimentation sometimes gives you interesting results.

Day 333: Sea Glass

A couple of years ago my mother gave me the trip of a lifetime.  New Zealand.  My sister and I spent hours on the beach 2 minutes walk down the hill from my Aunt's home picking up sea glass.  The light hit the glass perfectly this morning and I couldn't resist the shot.

Day 332: Sunday Afternoon

I don't usually post-process this much, but while I was totally going overboard when my husband walked in and said how much he liked it.  Hmm.  So I posted it.

Day 330: Ivy

All alone curving up the overflow drain from the water heater.

Day 321: Not this way.

Well, I guess I won't go this way.  The city has gotten a ton of rain, and while I don't know the specifics I do know that there are 8+ inches in the big rubbermaid container on the patio (I emptied it yesterday around 7 pm).  Don't worry, I'm not floating away or grabbing the life jackets, this section always floods - hence the gate - but it does make for a dramatic picture doesn't it?

Day 319: Swallowtail

I took this with the Tele Macro.  Much easier to take than trying to get an inch away from it.  Playing with toys is fun.

Day 318: Testing, 1, 2

My mother brought me a box from her closet for my birthday.  I'm sure you are all jumping for joy - I mean who doesn't want a box of stuff that has been sitting in the closet at the folks house for 25 years.  Let me tell you what was in that box:

  • Nikon 50mm 1.8f lens with a sky 1a filter on it.
  • Tamron Adaptall 2 80/210mm F3.8-4 Tele Macro lens with a leather case
  • Soligor Close-up lens kit +1, +2 & +3 with a pretty leather case
  • 80A Blue Filter which Converts daylight film for use with a 3200K lamps (since I'm not using film this I think will be a cooling filter)
  • There is some flashes including a slave flash, but I haven't gotten there yet.
All of this was for film camera, but it makes it all the more fun to stick it on a DSLR.  This was what I ended up with after 5 minutes with the 50mm & the +2 filter.

More testing to come, don't judge me on my first attempts.

Day 317: Fire Water

Combine color & water, that's what the daily shoot wanted.  Hmmm.....I had this or a glass of kool-aid.  I think I made the better choice.  Also, except for a slight crop - unedited.

Day 316: Nautical Twilight

The cheapest thing that I cherish - MY VIEW. It doesn't cost me a thing.  Now that is cheap.  Now this is not out my kitchen window, but it is within walking distance of my house.

BY THE WAY - STRAIGHT OUT OF THE CAMERA.  Just sized down to make it easier to load.

Day 315: Somber

I will say that I cheated today.  To make a long story short, I went non-stop from 6 am till 8 pm.  I'm too tired to think about a shot today.  This I took last Friday, at my favorite cemetery.  I've been trying to capture her right for a long time as you can see here.  I've always stayed away from photographing her up close.  I never realized how the flaw on her cheek was so pronounced, or how sad and somber she looks.
