Year 2 - Day 6

There were so many pictures I could have posted, but this one made me laugh, and I'm all about a good laugh.

Day 334: Web

This is totally experimentation.  This am shot showed great web, but I really couldn't make it pop, so instead of giving it a dark color overlay to even out the back, I put a white one on to make the web pop and then posterized it.  Experimentation sometimes gives you interesting results.

Day 318: Testing, 1, 2

My mother brought me a box from her closet for my birthday.  I'm sure you are all jumping for joy - I mean who doesn't want a box of stuff that has been sitting in the closet at the folks house for 25 years.  Let me tell you what was in that box:

  • Nikon 50mm 1.8f lens with a sky 1a filter on it.
  • Tamron Adaptall 2 80/210mm F3.8-4 Tele Macro lens with a leather case
  • Soligor Close-up lens kit +1, +2 & +3 with a pretty leather case
  • 80A Blue Filter which Converts daylight film for use with a 3200K lamps (since I'm not using film this I think will be a cooling filter)
  • There is some flashes including a slave flash, but I haven't gotten there yet.
All of this was for film camera, but it makes it all the more fun to stick it on a DSLR.  This was what I ended up with after 5 minutes with the 50mm & the +2 filter.

More testing to come, don't judge me on my first attempts.

Day 246: Unedited Sunset

I was going to cheat today and use a photo from yesterday, and I was out in the front yard trying to feed the cat that won't come inside and I noticed the sky getting more colorful.  I grabbed my camera & my keys and drove to my favorite spot.  By the time I got there the sky was more like a watercolor painting than anything else.  This is straight out of the camera - no editing.  You know how I love an unedited photo.

I should have named it God's Canvas.

Day 130: Wet

It has been a wet and dreary day, and decided to use the 1000mm lens for something other than the moon.  I didn't even have to get wet, because I only opened the back door.  I didn't even plan it.

Day 72: The unseen path

At the beginning of the year we make resolutions, to lose weight, take better care of us, give more to charity.....the list is endless.  Well, I refuse to make resolutions, I prefer to make lifestyle adjustments.   Over 2009 I made some great adjustments - I exercise regularly now in fact I crave it.  I feel a million times better.  In 2010 I want to look for the unseen path the road not meant for anyone but me and follow my own destiny, for only my path can lead me in the right direction.

I may never find it, but it will be an interesting ride.  Incidentally, my husband chose the photo today so this might be his path.

Manual: has been misplaced - oops! So I'm reading Understanding Exposure, by Bryan Peterson.  Excellent read.

Images & Inspirations:  Pete Carr - OMG he's fantastic.

Day 32: Found Art

I imagine this could have several titles. Sunday, we all visited Great Grandma and while killing time between breakfast & lunch I took the kids to the park, and remembered the camera. I found this just as it shows, on a concrete bench. It made me sigh and imagine the person who put it there and why.

Reading: Understanding Exposure.
