I have to be honest, this is from yesterday.  The shots I took today, just didn't make the cut.

Year 2 - Day 20

IN-FLIGHT

H2 & I went to the lake in almost freezing temperatures.  A gentleman & his dog were feeding the ducks (and gulls) and I took advantage of an opportunity to shoot some birds in flight.  This is STRAIGHT OUT OF THE CAMERA.  Yes, I yelled it because I think it's awesome.  Not bad for no editing.  Not even a crop.

Year 2 - Day 10

COLD MORNING

It was 28 degrees when I dropped off the kids at school this morning.  Snow covered the grass and the rooftops, but the roads that I drove were mostly clear.  I stopped by the lake and a huge group of birds were on the lake and the closer I got to the water the faster they cleared out.  I love the old filter building and with the snow on the ground & rooftop next to it, it was the day to take this shot.  Its one I've taken before, but I truly love the view around the lake.

Petting a Blue Jay

It's not every day you can pet a Blue Jay, but Christmas is special isn't it?  I found this bird stuck in my sister's sunroom on Christmas day and couldn't find the open door to get out.  After about an hour of him slamming into the glass, I herded him from the outside to a corner where my brother-in-law scooped him up and set him outside.  Too shellshocked to move he just sat there, and H2, being H2 and ultra-adventurous, stuck his hand out and stroked the bird.  He sat there for a while, I eventually went to take him some bread, but as I stepped back out, he flew off to be with his buddies.

Day 255: Full Spread.

I had a great day today. Lots of stuff accomplished.  The kids went to the movies with their aunt and I went for a walk while everyone was occupied.  He thought he was stalking me though the cattails, but it was actually me that was stalking.  Unfortunately, the light was not in my favor and I didn't get the definition I would have liked, but I don't usually get such a clear shot.

Day 210: Theme Thursday, Flight

When I was a little girl, I used to spend a week every summer at my grandparents farm/ranch whatever you want to call it.  They had a huge garden, a big old birdhouse to house the Martins in, a stock tank to fish in and a bunch of cows to chase.  The one thing I remember the most was I used to list all the different species of birds that I would see over the week.  I love the Cardinal, the Blue Jay, but the week wasn't complete until I saw a Scissor-tailed Flycatcher.   That's just the way it was.  I have found several around my favorite walking trails and it always makes me think of those summers way back when.

I'd like to tell you that I spent hours stalking this bird and other birds for the perfect in-flight picture.  Truth be told, I did stalk the bird, but the bird was very generous in letting me get these shots.  Less than 30 minutes of chasing him from tree to tree got me these shots.

Day 170: A walk with Mom

First ducklings of the season.  They were so cute sticking mostly to the reeds for camouflage, but eventually I got a shot in focus (those suckers were fast) and that said a little story.  They look a little pensive about jumping off don't they?

Day 152: Gull

They dived bombed us.  I've never managed to get on this close and in focus.  OK, next task.

day 123: Rubbish Pile

This is really one giant pile of limbs and trees from the snow storm out for bulk trash pick up.  The problem, the birds - they are EVERYWHERE.  My white car looks like it has polka dots because of these things.  My husband will be scrubbing my cars for days.....

See, I'm not exaggerating.
