Day 301: A Two-Fer

Today's theme was something blue.  He waited till I took the picture before he flew off.  But because you know my craziness for spiders, I can't help but post this one as well.

Scary isn't he.  He's an Orbweaver.  We looked it up.  He would stretch out as big or bigger than my whole hand.  ~shivers~

Day 259: Light Fixture

I guess this qualifies for heat/energy in today's Theme Thursday.  I found this light fixture in the Texas heat and I loved it.  There's a matching one down the way too, but the single fixture did it for me.

Day 224: Time for Summer

Theme Thursday is about Time, today was the boy's last day of school so it is time to usher in SUMMER.  YEA.  Here is H2 enjoying a popsicle at his end of the year party.

Day 210: Theme Thursday, Flight

When I was a little girl, I used to spend a week every summer at my grandparents farm/ranch whatever you want to call it.  They had a huge garden, a big old birdhouse to house the Martins in, a stock tank to fish in and a bunch of cows to chase.  The one thing I remember the most was I used to list all the different species of birds that I would see over the week.  I love the Cardinal, the Blue Jay, but the week wasn't complete until I saw a Scissor-tailed Flycatcher.   That's just the way it was.  I have found several around my favorite walking trails and it always makes me think of those summers way back when.

I'd like to tell you that I spent hours stalking this bird and other birds for the perfect in-flight picture.  Truth be told, I did stalk the bird, but the bird was very generous in letting me get these shots.  Less than 30 minutes of chasing him from tree to tree got me these shots.

Day 203, The one with the "worn-out" bug

Yes, the bug is dead and not "worn-out" but Theme Thursday is WORN so lets go with its just resting from a long day of whatever it is bugs do.  I actually laid down on the walkway to get this picture - luckily there weren't that many people around.  I did hear a giggle while I was taking it though.

Day 182: Theme Thursday, RUST

Theme Thursdays are always fun, because it gives me the opportunity to shoot something someone else chooses.  There are days when I'm bursting with ideas and the shots fall into place and there are days I couldn't find a shot to save my life Ok, usually I gave up and left the camera at home then - BAM - there's the shot.  So today my assignment was rust.  Well, of course, I don't have any of that at my house so I went in search of it at a park that used to be a farm.  There was rust everywhere, but not exactly where I wanted it to be.  I wanted a rusty gate.  I found gates, but all were pretty and not rusted or painted iron.  I did find this which is my 9 year old's favorite:

There was some accidental processing that occurred with the top photo, but sometimes accidents surprise you.

Day 154: Home away from Home

This isn't at my house, but it happens all the time at my house.  The boys at each other, it's typical, but not always what a mother wants.

Day 147: Theme Thursday, Lines

I'm spending way too much time on this HTML book.  I much prefer to spend my time with my camera.

Day 133: Bokeh

I'm taking a day off of the 1000mm lens to participate in Theme Thursday which is bokeh.  This was taken at my favorite "picture-taking" spot. The Dallas Arboretum.  The strings are part of a garden sculpture.
