Day 336: Another 2-FER

BONUS!!!  

I did two photos tonight - strictly because I couldn't decide.  I like the composition of the top photo, but not the lighting of the grass in the foreground.  I loved the idea of the bottom photo, but even though it was an amazing color.  It didn't "do it" for me.  I changed my mind when I switched to B&W.  Share your thoughts.  I always love to hear them.

Day 260: Bumble Bee

They boys and I went to the Dallas Arboretum today.  I was amazed at the amount of pollen this bee was carrying around and even more amazed that it allowed me to get so close.

Day 259: Light Fixture

I guess this qualifies for heat/energy in today's Theme Thursday.  I found this light fixture in the Texas heat and I loved it.  There's a matching one down the way too, but the single fixture did it for me.

Day 257: Looking Up

What a clear reflection and how I managed to get two light flares surprises even me.  Lucky shot I guess.

Day 256: Cowboys' Stadium

Went lots of places today.  I think my husband's favorite was Cowboys' Stadium.  He especially wanted to see the big doors by the end-zones.  Yes, those big things slide open.  How cool is that?

I liked it better in B&W, but my husband preferred color.  What do you think?

Side view:  I loved the way it reflected everything.

Day 205: H2's Choice

I went somewhere in the house, but left Lightroom up on the computer.  I came back to my room to find  H2 (we call him H2, mainly because his name starts with H & he was the second kid) my 7 year old budding photographer not only looking through my photos for today but processing them. YES - PROCESSING THEM.  Mainly he plays with the presets, but the funny thing is he uses auto tone.  A 7 year old.  Anyway, I decided to find the photo he liked the best and we processed it together.  We tried setting by setting what he liked & didn't like.  This is the finished project, his goal was to have the road look blue.  I think we succeeded and I think I hired a photo assistant for the summer.

Day 202 Empty Field

All I see when I look at this is snippets from Field of Dreams.  It is baseball season after all.

Day 200: What is Behind the Green Door

I saw this and it struck me funny, interesting and different.  It was also the only photo I took today.

Images:  I watched a wonderful show on Ovation last night that I had recorded called the Eloquent Nude.  About Edward Weston & Charis Wilson.  It made me think different. I highly recommend watching it if you get the chance.

Day 199: The Park

Obviously on a black & white kick.  I loved the difference in texture from color to black & white.  It totally changed the picture for me.

Day 195: The mist

I didn't really do anything fabulous to capture this - just managed to catch the little pond as the misting sprinklers went off.  But somehow I can't help but look for the monster in the depths of the water.

Day 189: Experiments

I had a nice day planned of experimentation.  As most experiments go mine failed.  I really really wanted to do my first HDR - I have not figured out the whole HDR thing.  Luckily for me, I don't put all my eggs in one basket and tried several things today.  I took a series of shots (5 I believe) thinking panoramic & I went out at Twilight to take some more.  Unfortunately for me I didn't take my BIG tripod, I only took my tiny tripod and yes, you guessed it, I needed the big one.  Planning is essential on experimental days. So.....PANORAMIC WINS this challenge.

I love this lake its a mile from the house offers a wonderful path all the way around.  9-10 miles depending on the trail you take.  Its offers me its beauty, but most of the time, it just offers me peace.

It was a beautiful spring day.

Day 129: Bath time

I caught this guy on the way to work Sunday morning.  Not a bad way to spend a beautiful afternoon.  Getting clean in the sunshine.

Day 125: Reflections

There is a lot of family involvement in my photos.  Its not just me, because me taking photos takes time out of my family's time; and that is something we don't have a lot of. With me at back at school taking 12 hours and starting this weekend working almost 20 hours a week, plus homework.  You get my drift.  So we can spend a few minutes perusing the photos of the day and talking about what we like, what we don't like and why.  Hopefully it gives my kids and little art education and my husband a little appreciation of it.  

Well this afternoon, my kids and I took off after school to the Dallas Arboretum, took a ton of shots and everyone liked this one.  What we didn't agree on was the processing.  So I'm going to ask you guys.  Which one do you prefer and why.  Don't hesitate to offer your opinion - be specific.  I won't tell you which one I preferred, but I will tell you NO ONE agreed with my processing.

Day 124: A victim.

Last week with 12.5" of snow - Dallas lost a ton of trees, limbs etc.  I went to the park today for a minute before picking up the kids.  I found this big old tree broken, but the wood was such a beautiful color I had to shoot it.  Who knew it would be the photo of the day.

Day 122: In the car

It's not every day I get to drive down the highway and take photos.  Well, I do sometimes, but its so much safer to do with someone else at the wheel.  After an overwhelming weekend of homework, the family & I took off for a 1st birthday party.  Instead of posting the obligatory kid pictures, I am posting my highway photos.  WHEE!  So much more fun right?  My husband and I disagreed on the after dark photos.  So mine is on the left, his is on the right.  You decide.

Day 116 Attention

I feel like saying the Pledge of Allegiance or something.

Day 111: More Stairs

You know how much I love stairs.  This set led up to a beautiful house costing more than the last set of stairs.  An absolutely fabulous house with an incredible view.
